Why Poya
In Sri Lanka, every full moon is a holy day.
Poya is the Sinhala word for the full moon day. It comes from uposatha, the ancient Buddhist day of observance that follows the moon.
In Sri Lanka, every full moon is a public holiday. Many families dress in white and go to the temple. Shops close, alcohol isn’t sold, and the whole island slows down for a day of quiet, reflection and coming back to what matters.
Buddhists there tie the biggest moments of the Buddha’s life to the full moon, and each month’s Poya remembers a different story. That’s where our moon names come from.

From your host
In 2025 I walked away from the family business I’d given 18 years of my life to. In 2026 I flew to a small island in the Indian Ocean and found more healing than the American healthcare system could provide.
There I watched a whole country stop for the full moon. Nobody thought it was strange to plan your life by the movement of the planets in the sky above us.
I came home to North Carolina wanting that here: a night each month to slow down, look up and say out loud what we’re all quietly feeling.

What we believe
We aren’t a Buddhist group. We respect the heavens above us and the wisdom passed down through generations. We believe community can bring balance back to the modern world, once each of us learns to read the information we were born with.
Why the moon
Your rising is who you are. Your Sun is how you shine. Your Moon is how you feel.
We study Hellenistic whole sign astrology, the ancient Greek tradition behind the modern Western astrology we know today. In it, the Moon is one of the two lights, next to the Sun. It’s the fastest-moving light in the sky and the most personal part of your chart.
It rules your inner world
Your Moon sign shows what you need to feel safe, how you take care of people, and what you reach for when life gets hard.
It moves fast
The Moon changes signs every 2½ days and moves about 13° a day. Two people born the same week can have completely different Moons.
It runs the calendar
New moon to full moon to new again takes about 29½ days. People have planted, prayed and gathered by that rhythm for thousands of years.
It’s the light of the night
If you were born after sunset, the Moon leads your chart. In a night chart it carries more weight than the Sun.

Where we meet
Downtown Clayton
The Triangle doesn’t end at Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Twenty minutes southeast of Raleigh, Clayton is a small town with a real Main Street: park once, walk everywhere, and step outside to look up at the moon. It’s where the Social Club began, and it’s close enough for everyone in the Triangle to make the drive.
The address
We’ll email, text and call every woman who signs up to share it.
In person
A real gathering, face to face. Not a Zoom call. The point is to leave the screens.

Never had a real written astrology report? We’ll write yours.
Share your birth details when you sign up and we’ll bring you a real written astrology report with your Sun, Moon and rising sign explained. Already have your chart? Bring it along.
We know sharing your birth details feels personal. Most of us were taught never to give them out. You don’t have to. Come either way.
If you want a real written astrology report, your birth time matters. The Moon moves about half a degree every hour, and your rising sign changes every two hours or so. The closer your time, the truer your chart.
We’ll email, text and call you with the gathering address, and email your real written astrology report if you shared your birth details. Your birth details are only used to write your report. Never sold, never shared, never added to a mailing list.
